Barcelona Shop Shutters

Shop Shutters…

I’m fascinated by them. I have been photographing shop shutters for years, on my annual visits to Barcelona. And now I want to share a few of my most recent photos with you.

Why? Well, because after the shops close, certain areas in Barcelona turn into an open air, urban street art gallery.

And, as I believe that art should be experienced, not explained, I will not provide any commentary but let you see them for yourself:

So, this is what I photograph when I travel, what about you?

Love your photographs. I'm with you. When i travel I take tons of photos of street art, murals and offbeat signs but have never come across such artistic shop shutters. Very cool.

Thanks! I always photograph odd things, too. I always think that much better photographers than me have already photographed all the 'attractions' and touristy stuff, and I can just get postcards for those.

I remember these! It's great to see your photos from Barcelona. When I was there my camera was terrible and I didn't get photos good enough to even save for the most part. I loved how the entire city changed when the shops alternated being open at different times of the day.

I love street art, and these shop shutters are just so brilliant, often very descriptive, too, as the paintings match the shop.

I'm often taken with whimsical street or shop signs. I photograph anything – street life, buildings, food, animals, people, art, nature, sky – whatever touches me for one reason or another. The girl in red glasses reminds me of your art. 🙂

Fantastic! I had the same fascination when I first went to Amsterdam back in the early 90s.. so many beautiful street art. The second last picture almost looks like you, Tiina

Thanks! Street art is so inspiring… I would certainly want to have the sunglasses the girl in the picture is wearing.

I find street art very inspiring, maybe that's why I take so many photos of it.

Love these! I love, love looking for street everywhere I go and it's always nice to see art that is hidden away and only comes out once the shops have closed :)~ Marcella

Thanks! That's the kind of art that we can all relate to, isn't it?
