Barcelona Moments

Barcelona

Things have been really busy here at Elegance Revisited headquarters, and I have been neglecting the blog a bit. Well, real life has a way of interfering with fun hobbies… Another week of work, and I’m ready for a well-deserved break.

Anyway, I thought I’d post a few photos from my Barcelona trip. I can’t believe it was almost two weeks a go! Well, better late than never, I suppose…

Right, about the photos…

Well, you probably know that Barcelona has it all: fabulous architecture (Gaudi, etc), great museumsthe beach, the sea, the Old Townthe mountains nearbyshopping and restaurants. And I’ve written about all of it, at one time or another. There’s very little new I could add. Or perhaps I could. I mean, it’s Barcelona, after all. It you’re tired of Barcelona, you’re tired of life.

Huh? It’s Paris, not Barcelona? Well, I disagree: I’ve never understood the fuss about Paris. Barcelona, on the other hand, never ceases to amaze me.

But, you should probably know that I hardly ever take photos of any so-called tourist attractions. The way I see it, these places have been photographed to death by far better photographers than me, and I have nothing worthwhile to add in that respect.

What I can provide is my own, individual interpretation of life in this fantastic town: all the little details that catch my eye as I walk around various (very different) neighbourhoods.

Barcelona

It could be anything: a quiet alley, shop shutters with graffiti, architectural details, or colours and shapes. That’s what I see on my walks.

Because Barcelona is more than just wide boulevards lined with Modernist architecture and luxury shops. It is a beautiful, interesting, creative town full of intriguing details, both old and modern, just waiting to be discovered.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!

I've wanted to go there for a while but we never manage to book it. I've seen those lilac trees in Portugal in the spring. We don't get them in the UK. Jacada or something

Oh, you should go! There's so much to see and do in Barcelona. The only problem is that you'll most certainly want to go back there, too…

You're right – Paris is stressing and overwhelming compared to Barcelona! French people aren't as friendly towards tourists as the Spanish (not trying to offend anyone, it's just my experience!) and Barcelona has a beach! I've been working hard at convincing my husband we should move to Barcelona, for about a year now. However, with this extraordinary summer I've sort of neglected my constant bothering him about it!

Oh yes, and Barcelona is so much more interesting, too.My dream would be to live somewhere warm(er) in winter (though Barcelona might be still a bit cold…) as I'm so fed up with snow and ice (never liked winter anyway). Nut I wouldn't change the Finnish summers for anything!
