Summer is over…
Well, not quite, but my summer holiday is. Yep, it’s back to work. It’s way too hot, both at work and at home, and I’m struggling to come up with outfits that look professional yet keep me reasonably comfortable. The dress code is quite casual, but I usually make a bit more effort to dress for work. This isn’t my ‘first day back to work’ outfit, though. This was day 3, when I finally got my act together.
Except for the necklace (which is new), you’ve seen the jacket, the top, the shoes and the bag before. I have quite a small wardrobe, and I thought that it makes no sense to get any new summer clothes at this point anymore (August is late summer in Finland; autumn is just a few weeks away, never mind the hot temperatures…).
What about you? are you just starting your summer holiday or getting back to work already?

This is a great multi-season look, and I love your new necklace. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!
Thanks, Patti. Yes, I was just thinking that I might wear the top in winter, too, with a cashmere cardi. We'll see…
Back to work for me as well! Your color is vibrant and that wrap shirt is so flattering! Have fun back on the job!
Thanks, Pam. Yes, a holiday must end sooner or later… I had about 7 weeks off from work, travelled here and there, and now I'll be in one place for the next 5 weeks or so… that feels so weird….
Tiina, this is a perfect summer 'back to work' attire. Absolutely love the bright blazer, great way to dress up this attire and still keep it summery.
Thanks, Trina. I seem to be wearing that top all the time, the blazer a bit less (it's linen and has no stretch…), but I think this will be my no-brainer go-to late summer look for work
Tiina, the blues work so well on you, topped by the perfect jacket. Hope back to work is going well and your temperatures drop for you soon.
Thanks, Jill. Blue is one of my best colours. It's amazing how the right colour can make a huge difference (you should see me in brown…so not a good look). I think the temperatures are finally on their way down, it even rained a bit yesterday!
I love your new necklace, it looks vintage. Gorgeous colors purple and blue on you and the wrap top is very flatteringfrom the link up, please stop by, jesshttp://www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
Thanks, Jess. I love the necklace, too, it has the perfect colours. I got it at a Department Store in the U.K. and it cost almost nothing… Still, it's quite a solid piece. I keep going back to that Department Store (Fenwick), especially the London branch, because they have the most amazing costume jewellery.
That fuchsia jacket looks great with blue, and the necklace is a really eye-catcher!
Thank you, Val. That's one of my favourite colour combinations, at least for the time being (nothing is for ever…)
Great pieces are great because you want to wear them more than once. Love the shape of the top and the color combination is superb! That necklace is TDF, too ;-)Aliciaspashionista.com
That is so true. And you can't predict which pieces will become favourites in advance, just notice that you seem to be wearing a piece very often, like this top.
Great work outfit … no reason to be stodgy unless an office dress code demands it. You look professional and beautiful all at the same time, and that's what's needed! Excellent look … every piece so pretty. I'm so glad we can wear our jewels out with cute day time clothes. There's such a Holly Golightly feel to this outfit!
Thank you, Jan! I think this is one of my favourite late summer outfits for work, and I love statement necklaces!
I think back to the day when pantyhose were mandatory in the work force. Thank goodness that came to an end…hot and uncomfortable. Looks like you have come up with quite a snazzy outfit. The wrap style is always so flattering. And, it works so well with the statement necklace.
Thanks, Glenda. Yes, pantyhose is the worst… I only wear pantyhose in winter with dresses, and even then only the very thick, opaque type, can't stand nylons…
A great look for work. I love the print on your top. Thanks for linking with 52 Pick-me-up!
Thanks, Anne. I always try to make an effort the first day: look a bit more put together, polished and professional… Have to scare the students a bit so they take me seriously and do the work yet look approachable enough so they won't drop out…
