My year doesn’t start on 1 January but in autumn, in September.
No, I wasn’t born in autumn (I was born in early summer), it’s just how I categorise time: autumn always marks the beginning of a new cycle after a period of rest. Everything is new: new projects, new people, new schedule… It’s time to get back to work, and I’m full of energy and very busy: working long hours, socialising with friends, making plans.

And it’s so easy to look elegant in autumn… the weather is perfect: not too hot (as in summer) or cold (as in winter). With no heat wave or snow storm cramping my style I feel more comfortable, put-together and sophisticated. Even when I’m wearing my old trench coat. Yes, this coat must be at least 5 or 6 years old, and I still love it.

I had wanted to have a classic Burberry coat for a long time, even though I hate beige… well, I might wear beige trousers, but something beige next to my face… I don’t think so. So, when I found this trench it was as if I’d just hit the jackpot. It’s the perfect coat to rival autumn colours…

If it was up to me, it could be autumn all the time, I wouldn’t mind skipping winter altogether… And I feel so lucky that I can sort of make autumn last a bit longer: when it starts getting colder in Finland it’s still autumn in Britain, and as I have Mondays off from work I can commute between the Homebases a bit more often again…
What’s your favourite autumn outfit?

Lovely color on you! I too prefer my trench in my favorite color (green in my case). Your trench reminded me of one I had in my early 20s – it was a lighter shade, but a bit similar to yours, only a long one, made locally, in back then pretty poor economy, so it was especially fun to find a piece in an unusually bright color!I love Fall, and where I live now the next few months will actually feel like Autumn, we do not have Winter in a traditional Russian or Finnish sense of the word. It almost never snows here, only in mountains which are less than 2 hours away, so for those who can't live without it, it's an easy destination. I sure can leave without snow – I had plenty in my previous years. I know what you mean by skipping Winter alltogether! Autumn brings milder temperature, softer light, breezes, colors and blooming creativity… impossible not to love it! 🙂 And yes, I also love layers and like you find it so much easier to look elegant and sophisticated in Autumn. 🙂
Oh, I would love to have a green trench! A slightly longer one, to wear over dresses… I am not looking forward to winter, it always seems to last forever, and I just hate snow… So, I will take every opportunity to escape to Britain (at least there's usually no snow there) as often as possible…
I don't know how you do it with flitting back and forth all the time – but it kind of sounds like fun! That's a beautiful color for the coat, and I imagine it works equally well in spring. If you're lucky it'll never wear out!
Well, you know, the flight is less than 3 hours, but then there's flitting through London, of course, and an hour's train ride… But a weekend in England also means a Monday afternoon stop-over in London for a bit of shopping before heading back to the airport … it's not so bad…
My dear Tina you look fabulous and ready for Autumn in Style Thank you so much for being part of Share-in-StyleXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thanks, Sacramento. Autumn is the season to be stylish, after that it's winter, and months spent wrapped up in thick clothes…
A trench perfect for your Autumn or our Spring, this is a wonderful colour on you no wonder you grabbed it.Autumn is also my favourite time of year, ours is always still warm and dry. If ever you need an escape to the southern hemisphere let me know!
Thanks, Jill! I think colour is so important, especially when the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder, colour can always lift my mood. And trust me, come February, I'm probably dying to escape the cold…
I absolutely love your coat! x
Thanks, Amanda! I'm a big fan of 'investment-dressing' , and only splurge on something really special, then expect to wear it forever…
OMG…that trench is to DIE for!bisousSuzanne
Thanks!
I have always wanted a trench coat, I need to just go on and get one. They always seem so chic to me!
I agree; they're very chic, which is why I have a few trench coats, I just love them. And they're so practical, they go with anything!
