Comfort Dressing
A walk in the neighbourhood park just before sunset does not require dressing up. Something comfortable and warm enough is all I need. And this outfit fits the bill.
My favourite (of the moment) poncho over a light-weight cardigan and joggers seems to be my outfit of choice these days, at least when it comes to going out.
Of course, when we talk about ‘going out‘ these days, we literally mean going out, as in outdoors, going for a walk. How times have changed…
And I’ve become very lazy, as far as my ‘going out’ look is concerned: no make up except for lipstick, and I don’t even pretend to do my hair (not that anyone would notice even if I did…). I just grab a small bag for my keys and phone, throw on a poncho and go.
Because, why bother? Who’s going to see me here? Some dog walkers, or joggers?
This, my friend, is a cautionary tale. This is what living in suburbia does to you: you stop caring about what you look like and can’t be bothered to make an effort anymore.
Yes, I know, I’ve been living in suburbia, in this same area, for almost 20 years. But I used to get out of here on most days. You know: work, social life, that sort of thing. What we used to do, before Covid19.
But don’t despair: I have a plan. Yes, I’m plotting my escape from suburbia. I’m going to reclaim my city-dweller identity and exchange these parks and forests for something more urban.
Eventually. In two months.
In the meantime, I have to start decluttering (again), and sorting through my wardrobe and books (again). And this time it’s going to be KonMari on steroids…
I’m exhausted already…

Your attire looks very appropriate to your endeavor. I am curious about this plan of yours to reintegrate into the city.

Thanks, Michelle. Oh, the plan is simple: I’m going to move into a new flat in a couple of months, in another part of town. I can’t wait!
Oh a new flat, congratulations already. It is a lovely feeling to wait for the new, isn’t it?
I’m lucky to live in a suburb with small town feeling yet we have the woods also nearby. So it has felt reasonable to keep with the normal casual style instead of new athleisure trend for going to library and other errands in the neighborhood. -q

Oh yes, we’ll move in 2 months, can’t wait!
I think you look great for a walk. I’m more casual during this pandemic as well. Seems that most women I know are more casual as well!

Yes, I think we’re all wearing some sort of lounge wear as daywear these days. Maybe that’s a good thing…
We are definitely making more conscious efforts to do things lately, planning little vacations in driving distance. What is funny is that my oldest last year was complaining that we had traveled abroad 4 years in a row and now he misses it. Good luck with paring down your things and the move.

It’s important to take some time off, go somewhere else, even if it’s just for a little while. I used to travel a lot, but I’m not missing it (yet). For me, it has been good to stay put for a while.
I adore ponchos and yours is fabulous! I think it’s great that you’re putting on a bit of lipstick – I’ve pretty much given up on that because we have to wear masks just about everywhere here in Portugal. I don’t leave the house without my mascara and eyeliner though lol!! 😉

Thanks!
Yes, it’s amazing how a little bit of make up can make you feel you’ve made an effort, isn’t it? For me, make up usually means just lipstick, I never wear mascara (very sensitive eyes). But now that we’re wearing masks in public transport and in crowded places, it does feel a bit pointless at times.
As I’ve said before, you always look great. That is the perfect outfit for a nice, casual evening walk. Love the poncho Arlene from NJ

Ah, thank you so much, Arlene!
I love this poncho/wrap/cape every time you show it! The colors are just so great. I love my wraps for snuggling up indoors as well because I am always super cold but a heat flash is never too far away either, so I love a little wrap that I can easily throw on and off with my fluctuations in body temperature. And yeah, my outings these days are trips to the grocery store and walks outdoors! Not much to get too dressed up for. Thanks for linking!

Thank you!
This is my favourite poncho (I have several), and I wear it at least 3-4 times a week now, but only outdoors (it’s always quite warm indoors here). It’s perfect for outdoors, though, as the weather (and temperature) keeps changing all the time: from warm and sunny to cold and windy in an instant; or cold in the morning and warmer a few hours later. So, I know what you mean about having something easy to just throw on…
I just love that poncho and I really like your bag too! I’ve been dressing a lot more casually as well with not really having anywhere to go. some days I do try make an effort but there are a lot of loungewear days here at the moment, especially if it’s a day my hubby does the school run!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope that you had a wonderful weekend! 🙂

I think most of us live in loungewear these days. Which makes me think that maybe that’s what I need to think about when I start budgeting for a new autumn wardrobe: new loungewear… Trying to see the positive side of the situation here.
Yes, I need to go through my closet and organize! I love these colors on you and the poncho is lovely! I like to dress nicely when we are out- if only to the pharmacy! Some days at home, its the nightgown or loungewear, depending on what mood I am in. Love the bag too!

Thanks, Jessica!
It seems that organising the closet is a never-ending job… Although I’m beginning to think that what I really need is more closets…
I love your poncho, it’s perfect for cool autumnal days. I have a couple which I usually take with me on my travels – not that there have been any this year! Getting out in the fresh air certainly helps beat the Covid blues. Thanks for linking up!
