Taking blog photos on our evening walks has become the norm these past few weeks. Even though both Professor M and I are now officially on holiday and have all day to do whatever we want, we still tend to go for walks in the evening, often with the camera in tow.
And because of COVID-19 pandemic, this year I’ve spent more time exploring the area around our suburb and the neighbouring suburbs than I’ve done in the 20 years that I’ve lived here.
I’ve discovered nature reserves I didn’t know even existed, I’ve learned that various wild flowers blossom at different times, and I’ve observed several species of urban wildlife up close. OK, mainly rabbits. And seagulls. What on earth are seagulls doing so far inland? I mean, we’re nowhere near the sea.
And I’ve made good use of my existing wardrobe, too. I’ve worn everything I have in so many ways and in so many different combinations that I can honestly say that I really don’t need a huge wardrobe. In fact, I could do with even fewer clothes as I tend to repeat outfits quite often and wear my favourites all the time.
I’ve even resurrected some old favourites. Take this dress, for example. I used to wear it all the time, 3 years ago. But for the past couple of years, it has mostly just been abandoned at the back of the closet, out of sight and out of mind.
And now, as I was clearing the closets and trying to decide whether it was time to finally let it go, I noticed that it actually matches the cardigan I bought in spring… Perhaps I should keep it for a bit longer after all, what do you think?
Outfit details:
maxi dress: Noom (old) / cardigan: Esprit / bag: Marc Jacobs (old) /
shoes: Vagabond / earrings: Aarikka / sunglasses: Nina Ricci (old)
Have you rediscovered old favourites at the back of the closet?

Thank you Flora!
I think it’s a fab dress, totally a keeper!, it has some awesome colors, a cool shape and fits your nicely!, and it matches your cardi perfectly, which is particularly delightful.
Love this outfit, love how your bag and accessories go so well and enhance the colors on your dress!. Even your lipstick goes nicely!. Looking really elegant & comfy!
Sometimes I’ve taken a break from wearing clothes that were worn in heavy rotation for a while. They get stored or just forgotten at the back of the closet. I love to rediscover them!

Thanks! Yes, I think this dress still works. And you can never have too many maxi dresses, can you? A maxi dress is the best outfit for summer as it provides some sun protection, too. so, Maybe I’ll keep this one a bit longer still…
I think you should keep the dress. It looks great on you and of course matches your cardigan. Love that color! It’s nice to discover new things about your neighborhood and the surrounding area. When my children were little, I took lots of walks around my town with the stroller and knew every street name and every park or playground to visit and also small shops and food stores that I wouldn’t have gone to if I drove all the time. I clean out my closet pretty often so I don’t really have many items of clothing that I don’t wear very often except for dressy dresses for weddings and events where you need something more fancy. Have a great day! Arlene from NJ

Yes, It’s nice to get to know your own neighbourhood really well, isn’t it? it just amazes me that I’ve been living in this neighbourhood for nearly 20 years, never liked it much (and still don’t, I’d rather live closer to the sea), and it’s only now that I’m discovering all of these places.
Purple is one of my favorites. We have discovered a lot of new places to walk in the past 6 months. And I am sure we will find more in the fall. Can’t wait for cooler weather

I think we’ve all rediscovered our connection to nature in a way we cold not have anticipated these past 4-5 months. I’ve never been particularly outdoorsy, and I’ve spent more time walking than I have in years. Maybe that’s the silver lining in this situation?
Oh, yes, cooler weather, I miss that, too.
Such a pretty dress, Tiina! I think you should definitely hold onto it for a bit longer. I love the lavender cardigan with it, too. Such beautiful colors! Thanks for linking up.

Thank you.
This outfit was actually a happy coincidence: I’ve had the dress for ages, but I bought the cardigan only a couple of months ago. I guess that only goes to show that I should never get rid of something that still fits and looks OK as the time will come when I might like to wear it again…
This outfit is stunning! Love all the purple. You wear it well.

Thanks, Nicole!
I have very few purple clothes in my wardrobe, so putting together an outfit around purple tones is always a bit of a guessing game.
Great colour combination .. It suits you… I’m Loving It <3

That’s a beautiful dress and I agree it’s definitely a keeper – it looks so good with the cardigan! 🙂 I love my wardrobe room in our new house as we built it so that I would be able to see everything at once – nothing going to fall to the back and get unworn here now! I do notice I still have my favourite pieces I rotate through though, haha! 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!
Hope that you had a lovely weekend! 🙂 Despite the wild and wet weather we did get to go out to see the results of our family photo shoot the other week and pick some photos to put up on the wall.

You have a wardrobe room?? I’m so envious, that’s my dream, t have a dressing room, or even a walk-in closet. It’s a nightmare trying cram everything in a few small closets in a tiny flat.
