This is what 53 looks like
It was my birthday on Monday, and (as usual, or for the past 12-14 years) Professor M and I celebrated it in Barcelona. The weekend trip was a birthday present from Professor M, my darling husband and favourite travel companion.
So, we had two full days, Saturday and Sunday, and most of Monday before the late evening flight back home. That’s one day of shopping (mostly by professor M), one day for walks and an elaborate lunch, and one day for birthday celebrations, checking out and travel.
I know, it sounds very hectic. But we’ve been to Barcelona many times and have done most of the ‘touristy’ stuff (a long time ago and many times over), so we could just take it easy.
These pictures are from Monday. And the outfit? Well, it’s quite casual, but perfect for a day of ‘sightseeing‘ (which is Bad Tourist Speak for walking around aimlessly and taking totally random pictures of nothing in particular) and for travelling.
We spent most of the day in El Born (the ‘hipster’ neighbourhood in Barcelona), had lunch in the trendy Santa Caterina Market restaurant, and then headed to the seafront. I don’t really care about the beach but I love the sea.
After that it was time to get back to the hotel and then to the airport…
The perfect day ended with a glass of champagne, of course, on the plane. I was flying Business Class (that’s what those airline frequent flyer points are for: so that you can get an upgrade when you want some pampering), and got home just after sunrise (4 am)…
And yes, I still managed to get a few hours of sleep and was (more or less) coherent when I got back to work on Tuesday evening.

Happy Birthday, Tiina! You look about 10 years younger! Love your outfit – the earrings are fabulous, and the colors and patterns so cool. And Barcelona! What a fantastic treat!
Thank you, Natalia! Yes, I love Barcelona, and I've spent my birthday there for the past 14 years or so.
happy (belated) birthday! And I love your comfy outfit with fabulous accessorizing and interesting details, prints and colors!. Love that your lipstick echoes your t-shirt color, love that your Golden sandals match the print on t-shirt!. And love your earrings!besos
Thank you! This is my favourite pair of earrings, they're made of leather, so they're really light but big enough to be visible under my hair.
Oh I'm longing to visit Barcelona again! I hope you catch up on missed sleep. Great tee! xx
Thanks! I was able to sleep for a good 5-6 hours before going to work, so it was OK.
Happy birthday Tiina! Barcelona really looks like your jam, and you look happy as well as lovely. xo-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com

Happy Birthday Tiina . Glad you returned to Barcelona for your birthday, I do know how much you enjoy your time their. We are debating a return visit later this year. Your outfit is perfect for a days wandering , those earrings are pretty special.
Thanks, Jill. Barcelona is definitely worth a second visit, there's so much to see. Any chance you'd include Northern Europe in your European holiday?
