A Casual Evening

casual maxidress over 50

Casual, business casual, smart casual... It's all very confusing. Especially if you live in a country where the dress code is always more or less casual, whatever the occasion.

Then the question is, how casual is too casual? Or, what is casual enough, if you don't want to look too dressed up.

It's summer, after all, and nobody dresses up in summer. But you still want to look like you've made an effort to appear somewhat put-together. Just not too put-together.

And where did I wear this outfit? Any guesses?

Yes, I could wear it to work. I said I live in a country with a very relaxed dress code. And no, I don't work in an office (but I could wear this if I did). However, I didn't wear this outfit to work. In fact, Professor M and I didn't have any plans, really; we were just walking around, enjoying a sunny summer evening. And then we ended up in a trendy bar for drinks and a snack.

So, was I dressed appropriately for the occasion? Absolutely. Just casual enough, but not too casual, for a sunny summer evening.

    1. Thanks, Patti! Well, actually it wasn't a pub, but the bar of a new design hotel...

  2. That casual dress code is always a problem , one persons casual is another's overdressed. I like your version of casual in your long dress . Perfect for a Summer evening stroll with the bonus of drinks and snacks in a bar. Enjoy that Summer sunshine.

  3. it's a beautiful dress and it looks perfect for a walk and some appetizers!. You look comfortable and cool and elegant so it's perfect!
I've never heard about a dress code until I started to read fashion advice on the internet!. I've always worked in an office, sometimes in a very formal environment, and I've always been considered as 'overdressed'. Everybody wears jeans, even flipflops and bermudas in the summer.

    1. Thanks!
I've always wondered about dress code for work, too. I mean, I've never worked in a place with a dress code, and I don't even know anyone who does...
