Happy International Sarcasm Day!

fascism

"Welcome to Bigot's Choice! You've come to the right place: whether you prefer your fascism off the shelf or customised, we've got it!

So, who’re we hating today? Now, we have all the classics: skin tone (whether you like it darker or lighter or anything in between), uppity women who refuse to sleep with you, mouthy liberals, and your choice of Johnny Foreigner. And if you’re in the mood for something with a bit more kick, how about rabid feminists, good-for-nothing-intellectuals, or people who intimidate you by speaking weird foreign languages in public?

Aha, good. And how would you like your dictator, sir? Fickle and fanatic, gropy and demented, or recklessly unhinged?

All right, then. And how would you like you fascism wrapped? For traditionalists we have the choice of either a beard or a swastika, depending on your religious/ideological affiliation and geographic orientation. The special today is red-white-and-blue fascism, very popular with the trendy crowd.

Excellent choice, sir! Now, why don’t you just sit back and relax, and I’ll get you your fascism, all wrapped up and ready to go, OK?"

Happy International Sarcasm Day!

  1. Yes, Tiina! You always make me laugh with your wit and sarcasm. There should definitely be an international sarcasm day. Are you sure there is not? They have silly holidays for everything! I may have to do some research. Ha. Thanks for linking up with me! By the way, this post will be featured in tomorrow's blog post as a reader favorite.

    1. Thanks Michelle. I often wonder if I should post this type of material at all, but I can't help myself. Sometimes everything just gets a bit too much, and I need to let off some steam...

  2. I love this post Tiina. I actually read it the other day, but it's so freakin' difficult to comment from my phone. Not so long ago I would've never thought that a)I'd be so rabidly interested in politics or b)I'd be embarrassed to say I'm American. The thing is, people get angry if you say that you're embarrassed to be American. I do love my country and I love all that is good about it (the good is still there), but that man is a worldwide embarrassment and yes, a fascist. Each day brings something new that makes me hang my head in shame. As you no doubt know, the majority of us did not vote for the narcissistic, racist, elitist fool that currently occupies the White House. My apologies to you and the rest of the world...hopefully this situation rights itself sooner rather than later and this will become nothing more than a dark chapter in our nation's history.

    1. Thank you so much Debbie. I do sometimes wonder whether I should keep my thoughts to myself, but that's not really who I am. I mean, I'm a bit of loose cannon, but I somehow manage to not express (all of) my opinions at work. However, I refuse to censor myself off-duty.
Fascists... well, yes, this piece is a reaction to not just your fascist-in-chief but also to certain political developments in certain parts of Europe (OK, the 'fickle and fanatic' is a reference to Brexit...)
And I totally understand the problem with commenting when using your phone. That's the reason I don't comment on blogs very often, because I read blogs on my iPhone...
