Sunshine After Rain

casual rainwear over 40

This post was supposed to be about rain wear...

And it had been raining all day. Not just raining, pouring... So, imagine my surprise when the sun suddenly came out in the evening, just when we started shooting...

Well, I'm adaptable... So, instead of carrying an umbrella, I'm wearing sunglasses. Doesn't this woman ever leave the house without a pair of sunglasses? That's what you're thinking, right? The answer? No, she doesn't.

Anyway... Is there a better place than the beach for a photoshoot? A photoshoot about a rain coat, in autumn???

If you want to see me on the beach it has to be in autumn. I don't sunbathe. I can't swim... But a walk on the beach in autumn sun, I'm there. Of course, to get to this particular beach Professor M and I had to get on a boat first. The beach is on an island. Yes, there's a restaurant, too, but it was closed. That's what happens when you have a spontaneous photoshoot and just hop on a boat...

But we had the beach to ourselves, and there was enough daylight left for photos, and a spectacular sunset just before we caught the last boat back to the mainland... Couldn't ask for more, right?

    1. Yes! But it had been raining all day, and we had about an hour before the last boat back...

    1. Thanks. It's a recreational area, a couple of islands just 10 minutes from the 'mainland'.

    1. Thanks, Tami. Well, I guess Helsinki is exceptional as far as 'big cities' go: there is quite a bit of nature around, and these small islands just minutes away.

  6. Spring here! I find rainy countries always seem to clear at sunset. "Here is the sun... And now it's set!" Looks like a fab time at the island beach, and a lovely yellow raincoat to brighten a rainy day. Jazzy Jack

The weather was crazy when we too these photos: raining all day, then this brilliant sunshine for a couple of hours in the evening...

    1. Me too! I think it's depressing to find only grey or black raincoats in shops.

    1. Yes, we custom ordered the beach huts, ha-ha. I had no idea there would be beach huts, or a beach for that matter... We saw a boat going to an island we hadn't been to yet, got on and thought we'd see what happens.

  13. Ah ... the seashore in the rain! So romantic, especially when the sun pops out, and you are all dressed for it, as usual. Very of the moment, this raincoat and not many women can wear yellow as well as you do! I would have never thought of the peach to go with, but it's excellent in both bag and scarf! Of course we carry sunnies all year round.
