A Grey Coat Needs Cool Accessories

winter coat
I've had this grey (gray for my American readers) coat for ever...
Certainly long enough, and I've been trying to replace it for... longer than I can remember. But, as you can see, I haven't had much luck.

40+ style

It serves its purpose, though: keeps me warm (when the temperature is around +5°C / 41°F) and dry, and it's long enough to wear with dresses.

cool accessories
coat: Creenstone / bag: Burberry / gloves: Fancy Fanny / scarf: Alexander McQueen
And yet I would like to have something new... Something that keeps me warm and dry and is long enough to wear with dresses... but in a nicer colour, and with a hood (this is a coat for rainy weather, after all). Oh well, maybe next year...

In the meantime, I'll try some accessories magic to make the old coat look more interesting.

What do you think?

  1. Hello Tiina. First time here. :)
I'm guessing you must be in Finland(?) now as UK is nowhere near cold enough to be wearing this many layers. Well, not yet anyway. I do like the coat, it looks really warm and cozy. :)

    1. Good guess! I have been in Finland most of November, but will be in the U.K. again in December...

  4. A gorgeous coat that does not make you look like Michelin Man is an asset! I love this piece! Definitely cool :)

  5. I like your coat. I like the accessories you've teamed with it. Everything flows well together. I especially like the edgy studded belt.

    1. Thanks, Lorna. I'm definitely an accessories girl, I can get by with very few clothes.

  6. Practical coats with some style are always hard to find for me too. Your added accessories , especially your belt make this one definately not boring. Good luck with your search.

    1. I hear you... And if a coat is not practical, it is useless, a tall order indeed.

  7. Winter isn't really even here, much less over! There's time for a new coat ... that one is extremely cool. I fall in love easily with coats, and have a closet full, I should be more selective. But for a while years ago, I got one that worked but I didn't really like it much, and it stayed for years with no company! This poor, pretty, hardworking coat needs a friend! Really, you've styled it so perfectly that it's kept it's cool looks. Is Santa likely to be of any help?

    1. Oh, I definitely need a new coat... but I'm a realist, and will probably go for something for much colder weather, will get more use out of that. After all, winter has barely started, and it's really, really long... and then I will need to turn my flat into a walk-in closet to store all my coats...

  8. It has some interesting details, and you look nice in it. But if you are tired of it, put it in the back of your closet :) - see if you'll discover it some day with a happy smile on your face! :)

    1. It's a good coat, and serves its purpose, I just need more colour... But I know I will be reaching for it again when the weather requires it.
